Technician’s Maintenance Tip:
The Canon NPG-67/GPR-53 drum unit is a precision assembly. To ensure the best performance from your new Long-Life Drum and Chip:
- Mandatory Blade Replacement: Never install a new OPC drum without also replacing the Drum Cleaning Blade. An old blade will have microscopic nicks that will score the surface of your new drum within the first 500 copies.
- Lubrication: Before reassembling, apply a light dusting of Yellow Toner or Kynar Setting Powder to the drum surface. This prevents the cleaning blade from "grabbing" the dry drum and flipping during the initial rotation.
- Clean the Charge Roller: Use a dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the Primary Charge Roller (PCR). If the PCR is dirty, you will see repetitive ghosting or background spots regardless of the new drum quality.
